A “Must-Play” Golf Course: The Links at Terranea Resort

The Links at Terranea Resort offers a gorgeous ocean view as you enjoy a 9-hole par 3 golf course located in Southern California.

I recently had the pleasure of playing The Links at Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, a gem and well kept secret by locals.  The golf course is surrounded by stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and Catalina Island. As soon as you arrive, you will notice that this is not your typical ordinary 9-hole par 3 course; rather, it is a collection of 9 caliber par-3 holes, perfectly routed and integrated with each other.  Some may feel the course may be too simple, but for most, although it’s a 9-hole, there is a challenge.

The well kept golf course is exceptionally clean with gorgeous landscaping and ocean view.  The staff is super friendly, and very polite.  They definitely always make me feel welcomed.  There’s mixed reviews about their high green fee pricing, starting at $55 on weekends and $45 during weekdays, but if you search online for discounts, you may find better rates that will make the visit well worth it.  If you think about it, high rates should be expected at this gorgeous property located in a high-end resort.  Now don’t get me wrong, I didn’t pay the full price, I love a good deal when I find one.  I  found my deal on LivingSocial and paid $49 for two people and it included handcarts, which is a very reasonable rate.  Booking is also very easy to use, one can reserve their tee time directly on their reservation page.

As a local, I am very lucky to spontaneously swing by The Links when I feel like golfing, which generally has 60% local golfers and 30% resort players, and I’ve never had a problem booking a reservation.  The course is never full, which allows me to enjoy the views and a gorgeous day, the way golf should be enjoyed.  That being said, it’s also perfect for couples or enjoying a Sunday Funday with girlfriends.  I would have to say, out of all the courses I’ve experienced so far, this is probably the most couple and women friendly course.  You may also want to check out the rest of the resort to make it a fantastic full day.  Which will explain why you will constantly see my instagram photos of the golf course and resort.

Terranea is also a family-friendly resort and offers lessons for the whole family.  The Links offers private lessons that has students ages 7 to 70, which focuses on their short game and works its way out to longer shots, which I need help in.  Only downfall to this course, there is no driving range.  But, if you’re interested in learning how to golf or improving your game with a gorgeous view, check their website for future events or click here.

Now one thing you should know before you make your reservation at The Links, the greens tend to run pretty fast, especially in the dry, colder months.  But hey, it’s what makes the game even more interesting, right?

Bonus:  Don’t miss out on the chilled apples hidden in the fourth hole.  You are welcome.
