There’s a new sweet bakery in town and it’s changing the way we enjoy warm and delicious cinnamon rolls. Watch out Cinnabon, Sweet Dough Cafe is here and they have a lot to offer besides cinnamon rolls!
Sweet Dough Cafe is a startup owned by a passionate young foodie couple who fell in love in High School, got married and 5 kids later dared to follow their dream. Louis, with a background in banking, and Lakiesha with a background in therapy for children with autism, don’t necessarily have Top Chef experience, but it was their passion for food and home cooking that brought them to their next adventure in life.
When I asked Louis if he had any experience in baking or ever baked professionally, his response was, “Honestly, I do have little experience, but it was mostly cooking at home for the family and friends and watching many cooking shows that inspired me”. Without a doubt, you can tell by looking at their cinnamon rolls that they have a passion to handcraft fancy, fun and flavorful baked goods.
The Ultimate Breakfast Sandwich
The cinnamon rolls is what kicked off their business, but it doesn’t end there as they are always brainstorming on what the next best comfort food will be. For example, they recently introduced their Cinnamon Roll Breakfast Sandwich, which is only available on Sundays. Let me just say, this had to be one of the best breakfast sandwiched I’ver ever had. They cut one of their warm cinnamon buns in half, grill it, then add egg, turkey sausage, American cheese, then drizzle it with home made maple and glaze. What’s Next
At the moment Sweet Dough Cafe shares their kitchen in a incubator/shared kitchen called Foothill Kitchens, where aspiring restaurants, bakery and catering owners kick off their ideas. You could find them there 6 days a week. Their goal is to to one day launch a food truck to share their delicious comfort desserts with everyone and one day own their very own building.
I don’t doubt that they will get there soon. For now you can visit their location or better yet, place an online order. They also cater and deliver!
