7 Delicious Things You Must Eat at Disneyland

MICKEY & MINNIE -- Standing in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland, where magical storybooks come alive, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse welcome visitors from all over the world. Combining classic favorites and exciting additions, Disneyland park is an essential part of a Southern California vacation. (Paul Hiffmeyer/Disneyland)

Disneyland has always held a special place in my heart.  As a born and raised Southern Californian, Disneyland was only a thirty minute drive from my house.  I was lucky enough to have my aunt who worked there and was willing to save a sign-in to the parks for my parents and I every year for my birthday.  In my sophomore year of high school, my dad gave me an annual passport so I could go to the parks so many days out of the year.  Not shortly after I graduated high school, I attended an audition to be an entertainment host and was blessed enough to be hired as a host at the happiest place on earth.  Now a year and some change into this position, my love for these amazing parks has only grown.

I am constantly talking to guests in my role at the resort and one of my favorite things to talk about is the food at Disneyland.  Everyone who’s ever been to Disneyland knows that there are delectable drinks, entrees, and desserts at Disney that you cannot find anywhere else.  But between eight lands in one park and seven in the other, all offering combos of American and international cuisine, how do you choose?  Well, I have compiled a list of some of my favorite dishes and delights that aren’t usually featured in these types of articles and I’m so excited to share with you! Enjoy!

7 Delicious Things You Must Eat at Disneyland

1.Boysen Apple Freeze at Maurice’s Treats

A delicious mix of apple and boysenberry, this frozen drink hits the spot on lovely, warm SoCal days.  Pair this with a cheddar-garlic bagel twist for a yummy mid-day snack.  This can be found at Fantasy Faire to the left of the castle so you can grab a bite and then visit the lovely princesses at the royal hall!

2.Fried Chicken at Plaza Inn

One of my favorite spots for dinner is Plaza Inn on Main Street, USA.  The fried chicken is paired along with mashed potatoes, green beans, and a biscuit.  Not only is the food amazing but I love coming here around the time of the fireworks show in the evening and sitting outside for a prime view and yummy dinner.  Also this location offers character dining for breakfast with “Minnie & Friends – Breakfast in the Park”  This delightful breakfast experience features all you can eat Mickey waffles and character friends coming to visit at every table.

3.Asian Rice Bowl with Orange Chicken at Lucky Fortune Cookery

Featured in Pacific Wharf, the Lucky Fortune Cookery spotlights typical asian cuisine and one of the dishes to remember is the rice bowl.  You can order it with beef, chicken, or tofu and a variety of sauces including mandarin orange, spicy Korean, Thai coconut curry, and teriyaki.  The orange chicken has a sweeter than usual taste and paired with the rice it is a meal you do not want to miss.

4.Crissy Field Cookie Bits Sundae at Ghirardelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop

Cookies and ice cream have never been better paired than in this sundae from this ice cream shop in Pacific Wharf.  A perfectly portioned dish, this can be shared with friends or kept all to yourself.

5.Shrimp Po’Boy Sandwich at the French Market

New Orleans Square is my favorite place to eat in Disneyland and this sandwich is one of the reasons why. This cajun inspired sandwich is adorned with seasoned cajun chips and features spicy shrimp paired with exquisite citrus caper mayo.  Make this a complete meal by adding a refreshing mint julep and Mickey beignets for a true n’awlins lunch or dinner.

6.Burrito Sonora with Beef at Cocina Cucamonga Mexican Grill

Another hit food at Pacific Wharf but this time from south of the border.  This burrito is sizable and can be ordered with chicken as well.  Peppers, onions, beans, and cheese make this burrito a great Mexican comfort.

7.BLT Flatbread at Village Haus

This fantasyland hotspot features one of my absolute favorite foods at Disneyland.  With bacon, caramelized onions, and topped with arugula-fennel salad, this flatbread is tasty beyond belief.  A little trick I love to do is if I order one of the dishes that comes with fries I ask for an extra side of parmesan-garlic aioli sauce to dip my fries in.  As someone who loves flavor, especially garlic, this sauce is one of the highlights at Disneyland.

There you have it, those are my personal best foods to eat at Disneyland.  Do you have any recommendations that you think I should try?
