Getting ready for a business trip is a project of its own. Between planning for presentations, meetings, and packing your luggage, finding the right hotel in the right location is another task that no one has time for. Which is important for most of us to locate a hotel that provides all our needs. As I prepared for a trip in downtown Seattle, I came across a boutique hotel that met my business needs in many ways. I usually stay at big chain hotels when it comes to business travel, but there was something about this boutique hotel that caught my eye and I’m glad it did, because now I plan to return not only for business when I visit Seattle, but also for pleasure. Here are my top five reasons why Motif is not only business classy, but also your home during your stay in downtown Seattle.
1. Location, Location, Location
If you happen to visit Seattle for a conference at Washington State Convention Center, you will be pleased to know that the hotel is simply a four minute walk. You can grab your coffee to go and enjoy the busy streets of downtown Seattle. This is a bonus for me, because quite often I am there for a conference and it gives me great pleasure to not have to deal with transportation to and from the convention center. In fact, you can even walk back to the hotel for a quick afternoon nap if you felt like it.
2. Business Entertainment Friendly
Motif Seattle is an upscale hotel inspired by the area’s rich fashion, arts and music scenes. Located in the heart of downtown Seattle on Fifth Avenue between Pike and Union streets, the hotel is surrounded by the city’s finest restaurants, shopping, entertainment venues, museums and attractions. Which is perfect when you want to take a client out to dinner or drinks. You can even ask your guest to meet you at the hotel’s restaurant, Frolik Kitchen+Cocktails, which offers a northwest cuisine with a fun, vibrant setting, long happy hour and sweeping views of Elliott Bay on the largest outdoor patio in downtown Seattle.
3. Mixing Business With Pleasure
Infused by the city’s unique culture with sweeping views of downtown, the waterfront and the Olympic Mountains, you’ll be happy to know that the hotel is just steps away from the most exciting things to do in downtown Seattle, including Pike Place Market (with the first Starbucks coffee house), Pioneer Square, Space Needle, Experience Music Project (EMP), Seattle Art Museum, Benaroya Hall, Seattle Aquarium and the Historic Seattle Waterfront. Just beyond the hotel, guests can easily hop on the monorail to the Seattle Center, Pacific Science Center and more. After all, there’s nothing wrong with mixing a little pleasure with business.
4. Generous Staff
The hotel offers 319 guest rooms and 10 suites and a team that’s there to accommodate your needs. From the moment I checked-in at the registration desk, till I checked out, everyone was not only helpful, but very generous. I arrived much earlier than expected and planned to have my bags checked-in at the bell desk until my room was ready. I expected to wait a few hours, but the hotel made sure my room was ready within a few minutes. Surely this may not happen all the time and maybe it was just my luck. But the point here I am trying to make is that they accommodated my needs as soon as they could. Being that it’s a smaller boutique hotel, you are guaranteed to receive friendly smiles and helpful service during your stay.
5. Living the Suite Life Experience
There’s many reasons to splurge in a luxurious Suite, such as honeymooners, couples celebrating anniversaries or just because you can and want to. Motif Seattle offers luxurious accommodations that are also perfect for business entertainment, such as their 770 square feet executive suite with a gorgeous view of the waterfront and downtown. What sets this room apart from the other guestrooms are separate living quarters with a pull-out sofa and dining tables with seating for four. This setup is perfect in case you want to invite guests for a meeting, drinks or host a small gathering. The hotel can accommodate room service for special arrangements that will surely impress any guests you invite over.
Lucky me, I had the opportunity to experience the Motif Suite which included their plush pillow top beds, high speed internet, upgraded Sundari bath amenities, refrigerator, work desk area, alarm clocks with iPod docking stations, Keurig coffee machines, soft robe, and Direct TV. The suite also included complimentary bottled water & welcome snacks, buy 1 get 1 free appetizers (must be charged to room, lower priced appetizer is complimentary), guaranteed late check-out and nightly turn down service. In fact, I happen to capture the experience below for your enjoyment.
