Plan the Perfect Valentine’s Date Night in Downtown Disney

Valentine’s Day is next week and it falls on a Thursday. Sure, you could stay home with a Netflix movie and takeout, if you’re into that sort of night. But for Frank and I, this night is a little extra special since he proposed to me over a romantic dinner at Catal Restaurant in Downtown Disney last year. You could hate on this day if you want to, but for some us, we like to go that extra mile to make it memorable every year. Whether you’re single, coupled up, or somewhere in between, here’s an idea on how you could spend V-day!

Valentine’s Day in Downtown Disney

Disneyland is a popular destination for couples on Valentine’s Day, which means a big crowd. Sometimes we forget that there’s another area we could enjoy besides the parks where we could also feel the magic. I’m talking about an evening in Downtown Disney! No need to plan a full day, just a simple night with the one you love. No PTO time required and admission is free. After all, it’s a Thursday – some of us have to work.

One: Take a stroll through the area and enjoy the live entertainment. Sometimes you’ll discover a jazz band or salsa music performing on stage by the old ESPN building. If you dare, maybe ask your date to dance al fresco with you.

Two: Nervous? Grab a delicious cocktail before dinner at Uva Bar to break the ice. They serve a variety of cocktails, tap beers and wine. Nothing like liquid courage to get the conversation going. Just don’t get tempted by their mouthwatering menu. You have dinner to look forward to!

Three: Now that you’re both feeling a little relaxed, if you’re a Star Wars fan, stop by Star Wars™: The Void, a virtual reality experience with state-of-the-art 3-D imagery and sound. Get in full character and engage with your favorite Star Wars characters, as well as with one another.

Four: Now that you worked up an appetite, plan to have a three-course romantic dinner at Catal Restaurant. Last year, we dined in their heated patio, where it featured the best views of Downtown Disney. As soon as we walked into the restaurant, we immediately felt the romance in the room with all the candles and rose petals.

Catal Restaurant never disappoints when they feature a special menu for special occasions, especially on Valentine’s Day. This year, the three-course menu will serve a variety of delicious plates, starting with their appetizers, such as Main Lobster Pappardelle Pasta, Shrimp and Scallop Aguachile, Little Gem Lettuce Chopped Salad, and Lobster Bisque.

For their entrees, prepare yourself for their mouthwatering Rack of Lamb, served with tabouli, provencal tomatoes, herb butter, braised lamb shank. Other featured plates include Beef Tenderloin, Baja Striped Bass and Pork Tenderloin. Vegetarians, they have a special menu for you too. Just ask your waiter and they will be able to accommodate you.

Make sure you save room for dessert! Gentlemen, this is the perfect moment to pop the question, if that’s your plan. Just saying. But hurry and make your reservations today, as this special event is sure to get full. You can make your reservation via Catal Restaurant’s website or call directly.

Win a Valentine’s Day Dinner for Two at Catal Restaurant

Being that Catal is one of my favorite restaurants in Downtown Disney, I’ve partnered up with them to offer one lucky couple a chance to win a special Valentine’s Dinner on Valentine’s Day, Thursday, February 14th. It’s super easy to enter, you just have to be over 18 years of age and be available that evening. To enter, visit my Instagram post below and follow instructions. Contest winner will be announced February 11th, 2019 via Instagram.

End the Night

At this point you should be satisfied with a great evening, but if you have the energy to keep going, there is still more to do. You could finish the evening with a quick bowling session at Splitsville or maybe do a little Disney shopping. Even better, continue the magical moment on the balcony of Catal or Uva Bar and end your evening with a nightcap. I personally recommend their Old Fashioned’s.

Cheers! Wishing you a wonderful Valentine’s Date Night with the one you love. Don’t forget to tag me on Instagram. I would love to see your romantic photos!
