Jump to recipe

Who doesn’t love black beans and rice? Not solely are black beans good with rice, but they also make wholesome additions to soups, salads and pasta dishes. Plus, black beans carry enough protein just as equal to poultry and seafood, in addition to vitamins in greens equivalent to spinach and broccoli. So when I heard Goya Foods launch their “Better for For” product line, I had to try their low sodium black beans.  I’m normally not a fan of canned beans, but I heard from a family member that Goya Foods Black Beans are good!  You’ll be surprised to learn how easy it was to make this black beans and rice recipe.

White Rice Recipe

I’m pretty sure at this point everyone knows how to make white rice.  I have a rice cooker so I tend to use that instead over the stove top.  I did however find a good recipe for the perfect white rice.  It comes out fluffy, moist and delicious!

  • 1 cup of long grain white rice
  • 1 3/4 cups of water
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbs butter
  1. Clean rice by rinsing in cold water.
  2. Add water and rice into rice cooker
  3. Add salt and butter
  4. Cook the rice as instructed by your rice cooker.  It usually takes about 20 minutes.

Once the rice is ready pour the beans on top.  I like to mix it all together. But I know everyone is different.  If you noticed, some people add green peppers to their beans and rice recipes, I’m not a fan.  But if you are, just add 1/4 cup of chopped green peppers when you’re grilling the onion and garlic.  Enjoy!
